Certificate
Upon successful completion of the online certificate program, students receive a Certificate in Greenhouse Gas Management issued jointly by The George Washington University and the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute that is recognized globally as a demonstration of superior competence in this field. This certificate addresses a very large and important demand for a well-conceived background in GHG accounting and management to operationalize the GHG emission reduction programs of major institutions worldwide.
For exmaple:
- The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change requires all signatory countries to report GHG emissions on a regular basis using prescribed methodologies that include verification.
- The World Bank supports large-scale efforts to develop capacity in GHG reporting and management in member countries. It (and other international banks) also requires reporting of the greenhouse gas emissions associated with programs it funds.
- The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) presently is engaged in capacity development in partner countries for a large range of projects related to GHG management.
- The EPA operates a nationwide program that requires emissions reporting from most industrial sectors.
The GHG Management Curriculum certifies competence in such GHG accounting procedures and other aspects of GHG management.
